Whole Life Insurance in Redondo Beach

Whole life lasts as long as you do instead of ending after a fixed term. Your premium never changes, and the policy grows cash value. We lay out the figures on paper, explain each line and leave the decision to you.

How whole life works and who it suits

As long as you keep it in force, a whole life policy pays your beneficiary no matter when you die. The premium is set on the first day and does not rise with age. Part of every payment builds cash value at a rate written into the contract.

For the same face amount, whole life costs much more than term. The extra pays for coverage that never ends and for cash value that belongs to you. It often suits people who want permanent coverage: parents of a child who will need lifelong support, business owners planning for a buyout or estate costs, or anyone who wants a fixed sum left behind whenever they die.

If your main need is coverage while the kids are small or a loan is outstanding, term life is frequently the smarter purchase, and we will tell you that. We aim for the policy that fits you, not the largest one.

What our whole life work includes

  1. 01

    Illustrations compared

We price one coverage amount with several carriers and put the illustrations together. Guaranteed and projected figures sit in separate columns, so no projection is presented as a promise.

  2. 02

    Each step documented

We keep copies of everything we looked at and sent: the illustration, signed application, any underwriting requests and the final policy. You get each one too, so you can see what was found and done.

  3. 03

    Choices for how you pay

Some policies take payments every year for life. Others are fully paid in 10 or 20 years, or by 65. We show what each option does to the premium and cash value.

  4. 04

    Going over riders

Riders such as waiver of premium or a child term rider raise the cost. We sort out which you would likely use and which to leave off.

  5. 05

    Naming beneficiaries

We help you list primary and backup beneficiaries the right way, including when a trust or minor children are involved.

When whole life may suit you

  • Your term coverage is ending soon

If your term is nearly over and you still want protection, many term policies let you convert to whole life with no new medical exam. There is a deadline for that, so look at your policy.

  • Someone will always depend on you

A child with a disability may need support for many years after you die. Coverage that never expires is built for that situation.

  • You prefer a set price

Some people simply want a premium that stays the same forever. Whole life gives you that.

  • You are planning an estate or business transfer

People often use whole life to cover estate costs, pay for a buy-sell agreement between partners, or split an inheritance evenly among several children.

  • Your health could shift

Your price is based on your health at the time you apply. Securing coverage while you are healthy can count for more than the exact premium.

How the process works

  1. 1

    A phone conversation

We start with a call. You tell us who you want to protect and what you can comfortably pay each month. We ask about health and tobacco use so the quote is close to real.

  2. 2

    Quotes and illustrations

We pull illustrations from several carriers and walk through them with you, page by page. You keep copies of what we showed you.

  3. 3

    Application and underwriting

Once you pick a policy, we complete the application together. The carrier may order a short medical exam, records from your doctor, or both. We tell you what was requested and when.

  4. 4

    Policy delivery

When the policy is approved, we go over it against the illustration you chose. If anything differs, such as a higher rating class, we point it out before you accept.

What changes the cost of whole life

Whole life is pricier than term since it covers you for life and grows cash value. Your exact premium hinges on a few factors, and we show how each one affects it. We hold off on quoting until we have enough to get it close.

Your age and health
Younger and healthier people pay lower premiums. High blood pressure, diabetes and similar conditions can push you into a higher rating class.
Tobacco
Smokers and other tobacco users generally pay a lot more. Many carriers require a period tobacco-free before they offer lower rates.
Amount of coverage
A higher face amount brings a higher premium. We can price several amounts so you see where the cost falls.
Your payment period
Paying it off over 10 or 20 years means larger payments now and none afterward. Paying for life keeps each payment smaller.
Riders and dividends
Every rider raises the premium. Participating policies can pay dividends, which are not guaranteed but may add coverage or reduce your payments.

Common whole life questions

Can I take a loan from the cash value?

Most whole life policies let you borrow against cash value. You pay interest, and whatever remains unpaid comes out of your beneficiary's payout. Before you borrow, we show what the loan does to the policy.

What if I can no longer pay?

There are usually a few options. You can take the surrender value in cash, switch to a smaller paid-up policy with no further premiums, or use the cash value to keep full coverage for a limited time. Stopping early often returns less than you paid in.

Do dividends come with a guarantee?

No. They depend on the carrier's results. Illustrations have one column of guaranteed figures and another of projected ones, and we make sure you understand which is which.

Should I think of whole life as an investment?

Its main job is insurance. Cash value builds slowly and steadily, but it is not designed to match a retirement account. If retirement income is what you are after, see our retirement income planning page.

Will we need to meet face to face?

No. Most of the work happens by phone, and we send documents for you to read and sign. If you would like to meet, we can do so in Redondo Beach or nearby towns such as Torrance and Manhattan Beach.
